The happiest women I've ever known in all my decades have been unmarried career women without children. And - after my father died, my mother mourned him of course, but she hated being a housewife/ mother, and she positively blossomed living alone, a happy and busy life with lots of pets and activities, rest of her life. My grandmother, too, buried her abusive jerk of a husband and went on to lead a busy happy life, helping raise me, driving to California, Florida, and Canada all by herself, loved by everyone who met her. Just my observation.

One good thing of being an only child is no hand me downs. The drawback I had because of my size was I always was dressed like a middle aged man
